Activity Overview
The 2024 ASHP Accreditation Standard for Postgraduate Pharmacy Residency Programs requires residency programs to establish a residency-specific remediation and disciplinary policy. While the standards offer guidance on policy development, many residency programs face challenges in effectively implementing these requirements, particularly when addressing academic deficiencies or unprofessional behaviors not covered by existing institutional policies. This session will equip residency program leadership with practical strategies to recognize when remediation is necessary, develop and document appropriate remediation plans, and identify supportive resources to assist residents throughout the process.
The American Society of Health-System Pharmacists is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education as a provider of continuing pharmacy education with Commendation.
This activity was planned to meet the educational needs ofresidency program directors, residency preceptors, and others (i.e., departmental leadership) involved in the remediation processof pharmacy residents.
