Activity Overview
Medical research is important for understanding the mechanisms, epidemiologic factors, management, and outcomes of disease. A thorough understanding of study design and methodology is critical for performing high-quality medical research. This activity will focus on high-level concepts surrounding study design including types of studies, their strengths and limitations, and ways to improve their quality through design considerations. Additionally, common methodologies used in observational research will be reviewed.
The American Society of Health-System Pharmacists is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education as a provider of continuing pharmacy education with Commendation.
This activity was planned to meet the educational needs of new practitioners who are involved or interested in conducting and critically evalutating research.
