Are You Ready? Preparing and Responding to Codes: Midyear Highlights
This educational activity provides participants with knowledge to equip themselves to effectively participate on the resuscitation team and to reduce fear associated with cardiopulmonary emergencies. This knowledge-based activity is a recording of an educational session that occurred at The Midyear 2012 in Las Vegas on December 4, 2012. Expert faculty provide practical tips to use during code response, provide an update to recent changes made to the American Heart Association (AHA) Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) guidelines, and explain the rationale for and steps needed to incorporate simulation into training for code response.

After participating in this knowledge-based CPE activity, participants should be able to:
· Summarize recent updates to ACLS and PALS guidelines.
· Explain practical tips that can be applied to be a more effective member of the resuscitation team.
· Define simulation training and review its components with emphasis on the role of the pharmacist.
· Explain how to advocate for pharmacist involvement in simulation based training and education.
Target Audience
This continuing pharmacy education activity was planned to meet the needs of pharmacists.
Methods and Format
This recorded activity consists of audio recordings, slide presentation and an activity evaluation tool. Participants must listen, view the content in its entirety, and complete the test and evaluation to receive continuing pharmacy education credit. Participants may print their official statements of continuing pharmacy education credit immediately following the activity.
