Reporting antimicrobial use and resistance data will be a CMS requirement beginning in CY 2024. The NHSN AUR Module website provides protocol-related resources, but many stewards request clinical use cases on using NHSN AUR Module for tracking and reporting at their facility.
Speakers provide clinical scenarios for antibiotic stewards to leverage the NHSN AU Option to inform, implement, and assess antibiotic stewardship activities. The scenarios include data derived from NHSN AU Option Data and other public data sources. Speakers highlight considerations for antibiotic stewardship data interpretations such as patient care locations, hospital size, and statistical measures.
The American Society of Health-System Pharmacists is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education as a provider of continuing pharmacy education with Commendation.
This activity is intended for pharmacists and technicians responsible for antibiotic use data reporting and implementation of stewardship initiatives.
After participating in this CPE activity, participants should be able to:
- Describe the CDC’s progress and initiatives regarding hospital antibiotic stewardship programs.
- Apply NHSN AU Option data outputs that can be used to inform, improve, and enhance antibiotic stewardship activities for individual facilities and healthcare systems.
- Explain important considerations for antibiotic stewardship data as well as potential opportunities to leverage these data for action.
