Activity Overview 

Pharmacists who work in settings where opioids are used may not have a broad overview of how these medications are managed to reduce overuse, misuse, and abuse; to prevent addiction and overdose, to improve pain management and the patient experience, to treat Opioid Use Disorder, and to partner with patients, providers, and the community to optimize practices.   

The American Society of Health-System Pharmacists is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education as a provider of continuing pharmacy education with Commendation.

These activities were planned to meet the educational needs of pharmacists who work in settings where opioids are used.

After participating in this CPE activity, participants should be able to:

  • State factors driving the creation of Opioid Stewardship programs.
  • List the critical stakeholders of Opioid Stewardship programs. And define the role of the pharmacist in opioid stewardship.

In accordance with our accreditor’s Standards of Integrity and Independence in Accredited Continuing Education, ASHP requires that all individuals in control of content disclose all financial relationships with ineligible companies.
