Learning Objectives 

After participating in this CPE activity, learners should be able to:

• Apply USP standards and evidence-based practices to assign appropriate beyond-use dates (BUDs) for compounded sterile preparations (CSPs).  
• Evaluate real-world excursion and compounding scenarios to determine appropriate product disposition, beyond-use times, and required actions based on available information.  
• Apply the findings from the retrospective analysis by Armistead and colleagues of intravenous smart pump (IVSP) alarm data in planning strategies to optimize IVSP alarm management and minimize alarm fatigue. 
• Apply concepts and recommended best practices for the use of gravimetric compounding workflow technology to optimize dose accuracy and patient safety discussed in the commentary from Greszler and colleagues when designing and implementing technology-assisted sterile compounding processes.   
• Apply USP standards and evidence-based practices to assign appropriate beyond-use dates (BUDs) for compounded sterile preparations (CSPs).

In accordance with the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education’s Standards for Commercial Support and the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education’s Standards for Commercial Support, ASHP requires that all individuals involved in the development of activity content disclose their relevant financial relationships.
