Pharmacists must be skilled in critically evaluating medical evidence to effectively combat health misinformation. With patients increasingly exposed to conflicting advice from social media, advertisements, and non-credible sources, pharmacists serve as accessible, trusted healthcare professionals who can interpret clinical studies, assess the quality of evidence, and translate complex data into clear, accurate guidance. By understanding study design, bias, statistical significance, and clinical relevance, pharmacists can distinguish sound science from misleading claims. Just as importantly, they must communicate this information in a respectful and patient-centered way, addressing concerns without judgment. Through evidence-based counseling and open dialogue, pharmacists help patients make informed decisions, improve medication safety, and build trust—ultimately reducing the spread and impact of misinformation in healthcare.
