Activity Overview
Pharmacists providing care in ambulatory settings are familiar with management of GLP agents in the treatment of primary care disease states. Pharmacists practicing in inpatient settings may not have had the opportunity to initiate and manage GLP-1 medications, particularly in the periprocedural period. With expanding indications and affordability of GLP-1s, morepatientsrequire perioperative medication management. With the most current information, pharmacists can ensure safe and appropriate periprocedural management of GLP agents.
The American Society of Health-System Pharmacists is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education as a provider of continuing pharmacy education with Commendation.
These activities were planned to meet the educational needs of clinical pharmacists practicing in inpatient and outpatient settings who interact with patients taking GLP-1 RAs undergoing procedures.
