Activity Overview
The last 30 years have seen significant advances in the diagnosis, treatment, and management of pulmonary arterial hypertension (PAH). Improvements in understanding the pathways underlying endothelial dysfunction and vascular arteriole remodeling involved in the pathogenesis of PAH, targeted therapies, and enhanced diagnostic and monitoring tools are reflected in new evidence-based guidelines.
This CE podcast will address the pathogenesis of PAH and the challenges of treating patients with PAH including the burden on the patient, the pharmacist’s role in PAH care, treatment specific considerations, and transitions of care.
The American Society of Health-System Pharmacists is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education as a provider of continuing pharmacy education with Commendation.
This activity was planned to meet the educational needs of pharmacists who practice in hospitals, health systems, ambulatory clinics, and community settings who care for or are interested in the care of patients with pulmonary arterial hypertension.

Jared Frost, PharmD, BCCP is a Clinical Pharmacy Specialist in cardiology and the PGY2 Cardiology Residency Program Director at Aurora St. Luke's Medical Center in Milwaukee, WI. Dr. Frost earned his Doctor of Pharmacy degree from Drake University and completed both PGY1 and PGY2 Cardiology Pharmacy Residencies at Aurora St. Luke's. In his current role he oversees medication practices across the cardiac catheterization and electrophysiology labs, cardiovascular surgery, and pulmonary hypertension services. Dr. Frost is an active member of the American College of Cardiology, the National Lipid Association, and the Pharmacy Society of Wisconsin.

Zachary Klick, PharmD, BCPS, BCACP, BCCP, CPP, is a board-certified clinical pharmacist specializing in cardiology. He earned his PharmD from Duquesne University and completed his PGY1 at Carilion Clinic Roanoke Memorial Hospital, followed by a PGY2 in Cardiology at HCA/UTHSC. Dr. Klick has experience in both inpatient and outpatient cardiology, managing patients with advanced heart failure, pulmonary hypertension, and coronary artery disease. He is one of the editors of the recently published textbook Raj’s Practical Management of Pain, Sixth Edition, and co-author of Defeat Chronic Pain Now, a book written for people with chronic pain. He has recently published the fourth edition of Pain Management Secrets. He is on the editorial board for the Clinical Journal of Pain.
