Overview

The Student/Resident: Continuous Glucose Monitoring (CGM) Microcredential curriculum provides students and pharmacy residents with a description of continuous glucose monitoring (CGM) devices currently available, selecting the most appropriate CGM device based on patient-specific factors, interpreting CGM data to inform decisions about diabetes therapy, billing and reimbursement opportunities for CGM services, and strategies for overcoming barriers to CGM implementation.

Student/Resident: Continuous Glucose Monitoring Microcredential Requirement

Once a learner has completed the educational curriculum, they will have the opportunity to complete an online comprehensive exam. Once the learner passes the exam (minimum 80% passing rate; unlimited attempts permitted), they will earn the statement of achievement and Credly badge for the microcredential.

Learning Objectives

At the completion of this activity, participants will be able to:

Discuss clinical guidelines and evidence supporting use of CGM.
Compare and contrast continuous glucose monitoring devices.
Design a treatment regimen based on continuous glucose monitoring data.
Use the DATAA tool to engage in a discussion with a person with diabetes about their glucose data.
Describe the process for obtaining third party coverage for continuous glucose monitoring (CGM) for people with diabetes.
Explain the current procedural terminology (CPT) reimbursement codes related to CGM services and how to utilize them in practice.
Explain common barriers to continuous glucose monitoring (CGM) use.
Apply the “identify, configure, collaborate” framework to address common barriers to CGM.
