Activity Overview
This presentation will review the classification, assessment, and treatment of pediatric obesity. Faculty will discuss the contributors to pediatric obesity and the potential comorbidities that may result. Attendees will be able to utilize pediatric obesity guidelines to recommend non-pharmacologic obesity treatments. This education will also expand upon current pharmacologic recommendations from the guidelines and provide recommendations for the real-world use of pharmacologic therapies based upon expert opinion.

The American Society of Health-System Pharmacists is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education as a provider of continuing pharmacy education with Commendation.
Target Audience
This activity was planned to meet the educational needs of pediatric pharmacists who care for patients with overweight or obesity.
Learning Objectives
After completing this activity, the learner should be able to:
- Describe the multifactorial evaluation of a patient with overweight or obesity.
- Compare evidence-based nonpharmacologic and pharmacologic treatment modalities for a patient with overweight or obesity.
- Select appropriate therapy for pediatric patients with overweight and obesity based upon patient-specific considerations.

This activity consists of recordings of faculty slides presentations, active learning activities, discussion, and handouts. Participants must participate in the activity in its entirety to claim continuing pharmacy education credit online at ASHP Learning Center. Follow the prompts online to complete the evaluation, claim credit and view the statement of credit immediately after completing the activity.
Per ACPE requirements, CPE credit must be claimed within 60 days of being earned.
