Activity Overview

All is not set in stone in the Emergency Department.  Despite the existence of established best practices for attending to patients, there exists multiple approaches to patient care. The EM Debates offers a dynamic, debate-style platform where PGY2 EM residents engage in fast-paced discussions, deliberating various therapeutic strategies in the Emergency Department. This program serves as an educational opportunity for pharmacists seeking a deeper understanding of EM topics without requiring expertise in the field.

The American Society of Health-System Pharmacists is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education as a provider of continuing pharmacy education with Commendation.

This activity was planned to meet the educational needs of pharmacists who may practice in the Emergency Department but may not be Emergency Medicine Certified or PGY2 trained in Emergency Medicine.

After completing this activity, the learner should be able to…

  • Discuss clinical practice in the emergency department.
  • Summarize applications of clinical pharmacotherapy in the emergency department.
  • Discuss how to apply clinical pharmacotherapy to unique circumstances and clinical presentations.

  • Introduction and Announcements

  • Presentation
