Activity Overview

Panelists discuss the current state of drug shortages in the United States. Topics will include current trends in shortage statistics, causes of shortages and regulatory efforts to address them, management strategies on the front lines, and potential solutions to the drug shortage problem.

The American Society of Health-System Pharmacists is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education as a provider of continuing pharmacy education with Commendation.

This activity is intended for pharmacists and pharmacy technicians who are affected by drug shortages either in their clinical practice or in how they procure and prepare drugs.

After completing this activity, the learner should be able to:

  • Discuss strategies the U.S. Food and Drug Administration can employ to mitigate drug shortages.
