Activity Overview

The COVID-19 vaccine rollout to hospitals and health-systems requires significant attentiveness and contribution from pharmacists and pharmacy technicians. Current and future vaccines require special storage and handling to ensure the vaccine is viable for use prior to the preparation of the vaccines for administration. Early lessons learned will be shared during this webinar and details from the recently released ASHP COVID-19 Vaccine Security, Storage, and Handling Resource Guide will be highlighted.

This presentation will focus on:

  • General best practices for cold chain storage and monitoring
  • Management of the vaccines in preparation for administration
  • Safety and security measures for vaccines prone to errors in mishandling or diversion
