Overview

This educational activity analyzes treatment strategies for initial resuscitation and adjunctive support therapies in patients with sepsis and septic shock. Development of a patient-specific pharmacotherapy regimen for the early management of septic shock will also be discussed

Learning Objectives

  • Analyze principles of initial resuscitation, including fluid status assessment, fluid selection, and vasopressor administration
  • Evaluate the role of adjunctive supportive therapies in sepsis and septic shock, including corticosteroids, vitamin C, and angiotensin II
  • Develop a patient-specific pharmacotherapy regimen for the early management of septic shock
