Let ASHP’s new online core therapeutic modules help you prepare for any Board of Pharmacy Specialties (BPS) examination. Get comprehensive, practical guidance for patients with congestive heart failure, as well as practice exam questions and references to helpful study resources.  This activity is available July 15, 2012 through July 15, 2015.

Featured topics in this online CE activity include:

• How to interpret diagnostic and/or laboratory tests, vital signs, clinical presentation.
• Determining the most appropriate treatment based patient-specific information and the most current guidelines.
• How to identify appropriate modifications of patient-specific treatment plans based on follow up assessment.

Led by therapeutic experts, each of the 14 modules (ranging from 1 to 2 hours in length) can be completed consecutively or individually in any order.  The online format offers the convenience of studying at your own pace.

Accreditation for Pharmacists

The American Society of Health-System Pharmacists is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education as a provider of continuing pharmacy education. This activity provides 1 hour (0.1 CEUs) of continuing pharmacy education credit (ACPE activity #0204-0000-12-962-H01-P).

Methods and Format

This activity is one of 14 modules in this series and can be completed consecutively or individually in any order. This online activity consists of audio and slides for one presentation, an attestation statement, and activity evaluation. Participants must view the entire presentation, complete the attestation statement and course evaluation to receive continuing pharmacy education credit. Participants may print their official statements of continuing pharmacy education credit immediately. The estimated time to complete this activity is 1 hour.

Target Audience

This activity is intended for pharmacy practitioners who are seeking to update their knowledge and skills commensurate with a board certification examination.

Activity Content

The purpose of this activity is to help participants prepare for a Board of Pharmacy Specialty (BPS) examination by providing a review of pertinent topics, practice of required skills and references to helpful study resources. Faculty will discuss therapeutic management of issues and provide resources on the disease state. The activity will assist the participant identify areas needed for in-depth review.

Snehal H. Bhatt, Pharm.D., BCPS, is Associate Professor of Pharmacy Practice at the Massachusetts College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences. He teaches in the areas of cardiology, anticoagulation, clinical pharmacokinetics, and adult internal medicine. Dr. Bhatt’s areas of scholarly interests include inpatient anticoagulation with parenteral and oral anticoagulants, anticoagulation reversal therapies, investigational anticoagulants for venous thromboembolism, and the role of the pharmacists in venous thromboembolism treatment and prophylaxis.

Dr. Bhatt earned a Doctor of Pharmacy degree at Northeastern University in Boston, Massachusetts, and completed a pharmacy practice residency at the University of Wisconsin Hospital and Clinics in Madison, Wisconsin. He also completed the American College of Clinical Pharmacy’s (ACCP) Cardiology Practice and Research Network (PRN) mini sabbatical training in inpatient anticoagulation at the University of California – Davis Medical Center. Dr. Bhatt is also a board certified pharmacotherapy specialist.

As a member of the American Society of Health-System Pharmacists (ASHP), Dr. Bhatt has served as the network facilitator in anticoagulation for the ASHP Section of Clinical Specialists and Scientists. He is also a member of ACCP, the American Association of Colleges of Pharmacy, the American Heart Association, the American College of Cardiology, the International Society on Thrombosis and Haemostasis, and the Massachusetts Society of Health-System Pharmacists.
