Let ASHP’s new online core therapeutic modules help you prepare for any Board of Pharmacy Specialties (BPS) examination. Get comprehensive, practical guidance for bone, joint, and rheumatology, including rheumatoid arthritis, osteoarthritis, and gout, as well as practice exam questions and references to helpful study resources. This activity is available June 15, 2012 through June 15, 2015.

Accreditation for Pharmacists
The American Society of Health-System Pharmacists is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education as a provider of continuing pharmacy education. This activity provides 1 hour (0.1 CEUs) of continuing pharmacy education credit (ACPE activity #0204-0000-12-960-H01-P).
Methods and Format
This activity is one of 14 modules in this series and can be completed consecutively or individually in any order. This online activity consists of audio and slides for one presentation, an attestation statement, and activity evaluation. Participants must view the entire presentation, complete the attestation statement and course evaluation to receive continuing pharmacy education credit. Participants may print their official statements of continuing pharmacy education credit immediately. The estimated time to complete this activity is 1 hour.

This activity is intended for pharmacy practitioners who are seeking to update their knowledge and skills commensurate with a board certification examination.
Activity Content
The purpose of this activity is to help participants prepare for a Board of Pharmacy Specialty (BPS) examination by providing a review of pertinent topics, practice of required skills and references to helpful study resources. Faculty will discuss therapeutic management of issues and provide resources on the disease state. The activity will assist the participant identify areas needed for in-depth review.

Arthur A. Schuna, M.S., B.S. Pharm., is an ambulatory pharmacy practitioner currently practicing in hypertension, rheumatology, and diabetes clinics at the William S. Middleton VA Medical Center in Madison, Wisconsin. He also is the residency director for a postgraduate year 1 (PGY1) residency with an ambulatory care focus and a PGY2 specialty residency in ambulatory care. The ambulatory care residency was one of the first to be accredited by ASHP in this specialty in 1984. Mr. Schuna is also a clinical professor with the University of Wisconsin-Madison School of Pharmacy. Mr. Schuna has published numerous papers and wrote the rheumatoid arthritis chapter for all eight published editions of Pharmacotherapy: A Pathophysiologic Approach.
